Kylie Minogue in the Voyage of the Damned
First mentioned during the Sunday newspaper reviews late last night on Radio Five Live.
Now it's on the News of the World site:

It's too bonkers for the Press Coverage thread.
Edited to add: Just noticed that the article seems to quote RTD!!Last edited by Milky Tears; 22nd Apr 2007 at 2:48 AM. Reason: Hopefully it's a drunken mirage that'll be gone when I return here tomorrow...

It would be interesting if it's true, but I can't for a minute believe they're looking to cast "a sexy cyberwoman" - how would that work exactly?

We had Britney rumours a few months ago and David Beckham back in 2005. That was Betty Swallocks.
It would be lovely if true but I don't think Kylie has done any acting for at least 5 years, then again she might well have her new album out in time for christmas and any publicity is good publicity.
Maybe this is a confused story based on the Cybermen dancers and Doctor Who clips from her recent tour?
We shall see, yes we shall see.

They should bring back Azal, and call the episode Better The Devil You Know.
You know.
It makes sense.

I know a song called Better The Devil. And it's not by Kylie.
It's by Sonia Evans, panto queen.

28th Apr 2007, 12:44 AM #12Pip Madeley GuestDoctor Who executive producer and chief writer Russell T Davies has dismissed the rumour spread by several media sources this week that Australian pop singer and actress Kylie Minogue was to appear in the 2007 Christmas special of the show. Speaking to the BBC's weekly in-house magazine Ariel, Davies has rubbished the suggestion.
"Don't be stupid," he told the publication. "I haven't even written the script yet, and a woman like that is booked up two years in advance."
Funny how Polly Graham mis-interpreted it in her story:
Russell, who has met Kylie to discuss the part, said: "I imagined she'd be booked up for the next two years."

So I wonder why RTD said it was rubbish in the interal BBC magazine? It's all confusing.

He said that he hadn't written it yet and Kylie was bound to be booked up years in advance, didn't he?
It's a classic RTD denial!
The InStyle magazine story has been picked up by The Sun/Mirror as well:

I've met his grammar, she's nicer than he is.
Note the words in capitals; has he caught something off someone...?
-
12th May 2007, 4:22 PM #22Yes heaven forbid Doctor Who should ever get gay. It's such a hetero show.
-
12th May 2007, 4:24 PM #23
Also, what the hell's Kylie got to do with being gay? Going by her tack record, she's straight, and most straight blokes were in awe of her arse over the years.
