The PS Amateur Who Dramatics Society
(hoping this thread won't bomb like the Win Lose or Draw one )
Let's say for some mad reason, the members of Planet Skaro were to put on a production, a remake of a Doctor Who TV story. Let's say you were in charge of casting. Which of our community would you put in the TARDIS? Who would play the monsters? And who would be the big villain of the piece?
Choose a story and go! Please tell us why you chose each person for each role, that makes it more interesting. I'll be back a little bit later to have a go myself...
(if you need help with cast/character lists, you can find them at the BBC's Who website in their episode guide section)

As long as no one casts me as Alpha Centauri or something...what a lousy job that'd be!

Pip Productions Presents...
The Tomb of the Cybermen
Starring....
Phillip Madeley as The Doctor
(I have the Beatles haircut, I often act dumber than I am & I can be a bit of a scruff, plus I know the script inside out - it's all a question of symbolic logic!)
Trudi Gard as Victoria Waterfield
(we'd be great at that touching scene, plus Trudi's got great lungs on her so the screaming would be easy, and bonus: it gets her in a skirt )
Ralph Mitchell as Jamie McCrimmon
(och aye, hoots mon! Scottish Ralph's fit for his age so he could try and open those big Cyber doors, and he's got hairy legs, I'll bet)
With guest stars...
Tim Hawtin (Dirk Gently) as Professor Parry
(he's got the beard and he's likable so he doesn't get Cybernised)
Wayne Jefferies as Eric Klieg
(he could Ham-mmer it up big time, plus he's not too dissimilar!)
P-Bal as Kaftan
(P-Bal's chance to be an Icon & Tanya Turner-style bitch)
Si Hart as John Viner
(only one man could fill Cyril Shaps' boots, and it's Mr Hart, a perfect tribute)
Dave Taylor as Captain Hopper
(he'd be a great Buck Rogers)
Martin Penny as Jim Callum
(young talent who's great with voices so I bet he could do American)
James Lindsay (Milky) as Toberman
(if anyone can pull it off, he probably could )
Jason Thompson as Peter Haydon
(gets killed off quite early on, but quite memorable, he's interested in sciency brainbox type stuff)
Dave Lewis as Ted Rogers
(he could do the 3-2-1 hand thing, I'll bet)
And the baddies...
Captain Tancredi as Cyberman Controller
(perfect role for a shy man)
with Rob McCow, Andrew Curnow, Paul Monk, Jonno Simmons and Ant Williams as Cybermen
(as Mods and Admins they know how to lay down the law!)
with Si Hunt doing Cyber Voices and maybe RetroRobot as a Cybermat

P-Bal's always an icon and bitch.
But I would get in extra hair for the part of Kaftan.

I get lumped in at the end with RetroRobot.
At least I know my place!

Well if you feel hard done by, you can always cast me as The Myrka in your production of Warriors of the Deep

Didn't Debbie Watling say on the commentary that she "courted" one of the Cybermen?

Reg Whitehead, the 6 foot 7 inch high extra. She went to dinner with him. They danced, she was embarrassed.
It's a good story.

The way Reg tells it, it was nearer 6 foot.
Anyway, moving on...

PS AmDram Presents its very own Wickerman meets the Archers, more commonly known as...
The Daemons
Starring...
Jason Thompson AS The Doctor - a man of science who takes no prisoners
Jonno Simmons AS The Brigadier - solid, reliable, straight-down-the-line... and "I'd rather have a pint"
Si Hart & Rob McCow AS Yates & Benton - in this story at least, the two men from UNIT are a strong team, as opposed to the usual typecasting of Yates as a bit of a prat. And based on his keen eye for fashion in the Vervoid's B7 Guide, I think Si might hold a secret fondness for the dynamic duo's strikingly colourful 'civvie' clothes.
Dave Lewis AS The Master - a suave, intelligent but witty character who you can't help but like. Plus he really hates the Third Doctor.
Caroline Baynes AS Miss Hawthorne - let's be honest, we've all wanted to post "Science, Miss Baynes, not magic" at some time or other
P-Bal AS Alastair Fergus - the part needs somebody who shines in front of the camera, and I think P-Bal is the one to make the part a show-stealer.
Jon Masters AS Professor Horner - a knowledgable man of science, nuff said. Any suggestion that I'm typecasting Jon as a grumpy old man of science is absolutely scurrilous. If it's any comfort, Horner gets the best line in the show: "Righto lad, I shall do my very best to be absolutely super". Admittedly he's killed off before the end of episode one, but it's a good line all the same...
Wayne Jeffries AS Bert the Landlord - he holds the keys to the pub, need I say more?
Andrew Curnow AS Sergeant Osgood - a foot soldier who does his best, but frankly hasn't really any idea what's going on.
Tim Hawtin AS Bok the Gargoyle - simply because "Bok the Gargoyle" is clearly a euphemism, and Tim is the PS supremo when it comes to double-entendre. You know it makes sense.
And, special guest-starring
Ian Levine AS Azal - a larger-than-life creature who wants his own way, shouts like mad, and generally upsets everybody.
