Genesis
Well, here's a general thread that's going to start with
I got through to the purchase page but it all ffffed up because no drop-down choice came up for 'Country of Residence'. So when I confirmed it told me I couldn't!
Argh...
Oh yes, Simon if you're reading this perhaps you could try!Last edited by Rob McCow; 24th Nov 2006 at 9:13 AM.

That was annoying - but I got 3 tickets. I didn't realise they'd go on sale at Seetickets and Stargreen as well, so I was able to use those. But Ticketmaster really ffffed me over.
So we're up the back, in the corner at Twickenham. But it's not an awful bunch of seats! Just slightly poor. Still, I was never going to spend hundreds of pounds on really good seats, it's just throwing more money at it for little extra benefit. At least we're going.
Though my nerves are now thoroughly shredded!!!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

We'll have to meet up before the gig, mate
Glad you got tickets. I'm up in the West Stand (block 105) with my dad, only a couple of rows from Ant funnily enough! And for Old Trafford I'm sitting on the pitch, second row, left of the stage... so two different views, we're really pleased. It's cost a pretty penny, but definitely worth it, because I never thought I'd get the opportunity to see Banks/Collins/Rutherford/Steurmer/Thompson on stage for myself...

myself, Teresa and my Mum are all going together, which should be fantastic! As Pip said, we're going to be a couple of rows in front of him - woo!
The tickets were expensive, but most outrageous of all was the 8 "convenience charge" that ticketmaster slapped on top of that - I think it's disgusting!
But yes, I too am looking forward to seeing Messrs Collins, Rutherford, Banks, Steurmer and Thompson.

Someone on the Genesis forum worked out that Ticketmaster will make at least 500,000 in admin fees alone, it's totally disgusting. Half a million just for telling people 'yes you can buy our tickets'... joke. But it seems to be the norm these days for big concerts. I'm glad they were relatively this cheap, and by that I mean U2 and the Rolling Stones who charge about 100 for tickets, not to mention Madonna who seems to milk her fans for all she can get. So 65 for a 2 1/2 hour Genesis show sounds reasonable.

One other thing that upset me was that there was no prior warning that the tickets would be availble from anyone apart from Ticketmaster. I discovered too late that Seetickets (my faves!) had tickets too.
I'm glad we're all going though. I'll have to ask for some binoculars for Christmas.
Curse you Ticketmarster!

So, while we're on the subject, what songs would YOU like to see on the setlist? Hmm?
-
24th Nov 2006, 11:38 AM #8
I would like to see the following:
The Old Medley
The In The Cage Medley
Supper's Ready
that makes up about 3 days, doesn't it?
in all seriousness, i WOULD like to see one or both of the medleys. They've already said they won't do Supper's Ready in its entirity, so there's no chance of that.
I suspect we'll get something similar to the The Way We Walk tour, probably with a bit more stuff from Duke, though

Unfortunately, in the press conference they appeared to be off the Medleys as well! I think that The Cage and I Know What I Like might make it onto the list. Here are some other suspicions -
Turn It On Again (it's the title of the tour, dammit!)
I Can't Dance and Invisible Touch - the cheesy classics
Land of Confusion - enough people have covered it lately
No Son of Mine and Jesus He Knows Me - the less cheesy but still quite cheesy classics
That's All - Provided Tony can get his fingers working again!
Mama (if we're lucky?)
Firth Of Fifth (if we're luck-luck-cluck-lucky!)
Paperlate
Stagnation
Twilight Alehouse
Horizons...
Oh wait I lost the plot there somewhere.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I reckon we'll certainly get:
Turn It On Again
Invisible Touch
Land Of Confusion
Throwing It All Away
No Son Of Mine
I Can't Dance
Misunderstanding
Afterglow
Los Endos
Then you can stick in:
Dance on a Volcano
In The Cage
Fading Lights
Domino
Home By The Sea
After that, if they're going in the direction of hits:
That's All
Jesus He Knows Me
In Too Deep
Follow You, Follow Me
Or if they're being a bit nicer to the fans:
Firth of Fifth
The Cinema Show
Carpet Crawlers
The Lamb Lies Down

The problem is, I also got tickets! Having no access to my mobile, I went and ordered them as well, so we've got three spares. Grrr!
Anyway, I'm delighted to be seeing them again next year. They should be great and I'd very much like them to play Cinema Show, Duke's Travels/ Duke's End and Firth of Fifth, but I feel I might be optimistic to expect them!

If you want to know what I think we'll get, instead of what I'd like, it's as follows:
Almost certain:
Turn it On Again
Land of Confusion
I Can't Dance
Invisible Touch
Drum Duet
Dance on a Volcano
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Afterglow
Misunderstanding
Reasonably likely:
Behind the Lines/Duchess/Turn it On Again (not a medley, but played as a 'suite')
Dance on a Volcano
In The Cage
Los Endos
Home by the Sea/Second Home by the Sea
Follow You, Follow Me
I Know What I Like
Tonight Tonight Tonight
Would be nice:
Mama
Firth of Fifth
The Musical Box
Anyway
Apocalypse in 9/8 (tacked on the end of another song)
Not a hope in hell:
The Old Medley
In The Cage Medley
Supper's Ready
Congo

Bless you.
Didn't realise they were going on sale today. I would never have been able to realistically afford tickets anyway, especially not at 65 a throw! I already owe my brother 50 for getting me a ticket to see Roger Waters next year.
It should be a fantastic show, and personally, considering that the Gabriel-era Genesis has seen something of a renaissance in the ten years or so since they last toured, I think that you might get more than a few classics.

Some very exciting news for Genesis fans - as already known, they're releasing SACD/5.1 versions of the back catalogue, but they come with visual extras...

- Keep It Dark [promo video]
- Man On The Corner [promo video]
- No Reply At All [promo video]
- Me And Sarah Jane (from 'Three Sides Live' 1981)
There's some things that make me jump for joy (like Three Dates With Genesis, which hasn't been repeated since its original transmission and many thought it would remain locked up in the BBC forever), but there are some oddities, like the lack of live tracks for "And Then There Were Three" considering there's quite a few on the Old Grey Whistle Test 1980 Lyceum gig.
I'm seriously considering picking up an SACD player and 5.1 setup before the end of the year.

That's going to cost us a fortune. It might be worth it though!
Although... we've got the promo videos... and they're in 5.1 on the Turn It On Again DVD.
Perhaps more importantly, we don't have 5.1 facilities. Yet!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
