Yeah but she was functional, Freema is going into Torchwood for 3 epsiodes so there might be a swingback somehow with Gwen or Tosh (ooh I like Tosh) going into the Tardis.

It's it time we had another embarassing "down with the kids" street girl in the mould of Ace?

"Hey whatup me Dalek. What izz it wif you ay? Is it cuz I is human aye?"

So put down Ashleen from last year's Big Brother.

Or maybe Nikki from the same show, if we want a return of the annoying screamer.

    It's Tate.

I'm more excited by this than I thought I would be, actually. I didn't think much of The Runaway Bride as a whole, but did quite like Tate's performance. I think, despite Donna's thickness, it will be an interesting new dynamic for the Doctor to have an older companion once more.

So a cautious thumbs-up from me.

I don't like gobby, mouthy, loud & obnoxious people...Donna was all that & more in my opinion.

Why? Why should I like a character or actress just to be a fan?

I'm not sure how old you are but I have a shrewd idea that I've been a fan of Doctor Who since before you were born.

Rose was quite gobby, loud, mouthy and obnoxious.

    gobby,
A useful trait for a companion. Especially when facing the Daleks, if she wasn't so gobby she'd be dead.
    loud,
You want a companion who sits there quietly? That's no fun!
    mouthy
    Same as 'Gobby' really.
    and obnoxious
Not true! She always took time to talk to people like Gwyneth, she was usually the one reminding the Doctor to be polite, she was always shown to be caring and sensitive.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I'd quite like Catherine Tate to be the new companion.

But that's not very likely to happen I guess.

She got more and more obnoxious as time went by. She was a complete cow with Sarah Jane for no real reason, she treated Mickey like crap most of the time (she was bitter and resentful when he joined the crew) and she had a right royal go at Elton too like a complete chav.

And I only said mouthy AND gobby because Dirk did

Yeah, but she made good friends with Sarah in the end, plus Mickey was pretty useless until the second season.
