2nd Feb 2009, 9:30 PM #4Torchwood: Children of Earth Trailer to air this Thursday.
From 9pm on Thursday 5th February, a 60 second trailer of Torchwood: Children of Earth will be shown on the Torchwood website - bbc.co.uk/torchwood.
The trailer will be simultaneously broadcast at New York ComicCon 2009 - where Eve Myles and director Euros Lyn will be taking part in a panel session. Torchwood has proved a big hit with audiences in the U.S and is BBC AMERICA's highest rated series.
In one epic story told over five nights, the new series, to be broadcast for the first time on BBC One later this year, promises to be Torchwood's greatest adrenalin-fuelled, high octane adventure yet.
Torchwood: Children of Earth re-joins Captain Jack (John Barrowman), Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) and Ianto Jones (Gareth David Lloyd) who are still coming to terms with the death of two of their closest friends. Despite their pain, they have a job to do.
This time they are faced with their fiercest threat to date - one which throws the future of Torchwood and the entire human race spiralling into danger. They battle against the odds but do they stand a chance of saving mankind?
Torchwood is executive produced by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner. The producer is Peter Bennett (Doctor Who).
Torchwood is written by Russell T Davies, John Fay (Clocking Off, Coronation Street) and James Moran (Doctor Who, Torchwood) and directed by Euros Lyn (best director in BAFTA Cymru TV Awards, Doctor Who, George Gently).
Torchwood: Children of Earth is a BBC Wales for BBC Drama production.

I thought Torchwood was due on the 14th Feb?

No, that's Valentine's Day. Easy to get that and Torchwood mixed up.
Though one's missus would probably not see it that way.

We'd have known by now if it was the 14th - the Press Office releases are usually at least two weeks in advance for starters.
Besides which, this is going to be stripped from a Monday to a Friday and the 14th is a Saturday!

Ah the perils of reusing an old thread, Duncan - Stuart was referring to the trailer for season 2, back in late 2007 (ah, them were the days). AFAIK the season 3 trailer isn't due until 9pm tomorrow.

Fair enough. My bad. I didn't think to look at the dates of the first few posts as the title of the thread was for season 3.
I'll just have to wait then.I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

I like the tagline: "We are coming" - who, Jack and Ianto?!

I thought that looked really good... although quite different to Torchwood as we know it. Looks like our heroes go on the run, I guess because Jack knows the truth.
I'm hoping now that he'll get to tell the Home Secretary, Prime Minister, etc, that "You can't handle the truth!!!"

I thought that looked pretty cool.

It looks quite good. Is it me or is there more of a Doctor Who feel about it?
Shame we have to have Jack kissing Ianto again.

That actually looked rather good!
I've never really cared for Torchwood, but that trailer has me excited.

I haven't watched it!
I have to summon the strength first. I'm completely prejudiced about Torchwood. I feel that I should watch it in case it becomes really really good, but at the same time it keeps being awful. Right now I can't remember anything good about Torchwood.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

As long as it keeps the quality of the second series. I'll be happy. Anyway, I went through the fast parts of the trailer frame by frame and made this screenshot which confirms they are not toning down the horror for the switch to BBC1.

Nice! Is that Owen, I wonder?
Interesting trailer - I wonder if "they" that Jack knows about are something we've encountered before?
And what have I seen the bloke who's wearing a grey top in recently? It's driving me potty!

Do you mean Paul Copley, Jonno (the mumbly mad guy in the trailer) or one of the government chaps?
-

That's the one, Andrew, thanks! Having checked him out on IMDB he's got an extensive list on TV and loads of things I will have seen him in - Tenko, Cracker, Grange Hill, Juliet Bravo to name a few. But where I recognised him from is This Life where he was the father of one of the regulars. I can rest easy now!

He was also in Spare Parts, I think - although obviously you wouldn't have seen him in that!
