Fluff
I have just heard on the news that veteran DJ Alan Freeman has died at the age of 79.
"Fluff" as he was nicknamed was a hero of mine throughout the 60s and 70s with shows like Pick of the Pops and his daily shows on Radio One, some of which I have on reel to reel tape.
Like John Peel, he will be sadly missed.
RIP "Fluff"

Alan 'Fluff' Freeman has died
Just announced on the news a few minutes ago:
BBC News
Not much of a shock as I knew he'd been in a nursing home for a few years.
Still sad news.

Very, very sad news.
A true legend of British radio, all-round nice guy (and God, if 'The Young Ones' is anything to go by!), he will be sorely missed.
Rest in peace, Fluff.

He once said, "If you love someone - tell 'em, before it's too late."
The wisest words I've ever heard. Rest in peace, Alan.

Very sad news, but he had been unwell for some time.
I'll always remember Smashie and Nicey going to see him in the old folks home in The Harry Enfield and Friends Show! It's always nice to see that some celebs are happy to send themselves up.
Si xx
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

It's strange how it feels like it's an old friend that has died, even though you never knew them. Truely a legend - not 'arf!

I saw him once or twice giving interviews in recent years, and he seemed to be an amazingly nice, genuine man

A fantastic bloke. His age is long since passed, sadly, but I grew up with his rock show as my weekly fix (ironically he was replaced by the late Tommy Vance at one point because he was so unwell).
