Favourite Album covers ...
There was a bit on this on Jonathon Ross's Radio 2 program last week.
There's a whole nostalgia about vinyl albums. We now have music almost on demand, able to skip forward and back at the push of a button.
I know as a child I used to love going through their albums. Part of what was so wonderful was looking through the art and the notes. It used to be a major part of an album was the cover art.
As music technology has moved on and it's become more portable, it's all changed, these days the album cover art isn't even important on an MP3 player.
I remember buying my Kate Bush collection on tape (feels criminal saying that).
Without doubt, the Kick Inside is probably one of my favourite album covers, but believe me on a cassette inlay it just doesn't do it justice. I thought it'd be interesting to find out other peoples favourite album cover art ...
Oh and this was the US album cover - another example of America getting it all wrong again ...

Good old Pip huh!
Well I'm going to lead with one I think everyone will agree is probably the best and most iconic album cover of all time.
Then some albums I've just remembered over the years ...
(I had this next one as a poster at University 1st-2nd years)
And I probably remember this one for very dubious reasons (hope I don't get into trouble) ...

I think it's a very nice image (and very much of its time), but the best bit is the vertical gatefold "matchbook" design on the original album version, with the bottom corner "burnt" off too.

It's eye-catching.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

The Super Furry Animals have produced some marvellous pieces of artwork for their albums and one of my very favourite album covers of all time is:
Great art!

I'd been thinking about starting a thread about sleeve art, but found this one from last year.....
I was a big fan of Japan at the time, and sad that they'd split up, so when this debut solo single came along I was very excited. It's a great song (imo), and just as much it's got a beautiful image on the sleeve...
So, anyone else got any more? Don't have to be albums, let's not forget those old fashioned things called singles!

Is this not the best album cover of all time?

The artwork for Keane's Under The Iron Sea is quite pretty:
As it this for Genesis' No Son Of Mine single:

Dolly looks more like Pete Burns there, or vice versa!

Two quite striking album covers - which both used slightly creepy children on them ...

Oh and whilst looking this up - this was an album cover designed by a rap group called the Coup in June 2001 ...
It got changed before it was released for obvious reasons ...

And if there was a prize for best album covers - would probably go to Pink Floyd - they were everywhere at University ... not a huge fan of the band though (I think even Radiohead is like listening to happy talky compared to the Floyd) ...

I'll take the one second from the left, and the two on the right.
Oh wait, wrong thread. For every fail, there is an equal and opposite win.

I bet there's some love in Kakko's heart for her.
She could pledge it.
