Numbers Ones on the Day You Were Born
We haven't done this for years and it's always a hoot...
WHAT WAS ATOP THE UK CHARTS ON THE DAY YOU WERE BORN?
There's various websites and t'ing to find out but "everyhit" gives you the singles and albums as well as the birthdates of popstars and things of that nature so that's the one I recommend...
http://www.everyhit.com/dates/
And "thisdayinmusic" gives you the American and Australian chart toppers as well which is nice...

So what do we all get and do you like what you see?

I'm genuinely not making this up, but the number 1 single on my birth day was...
Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep.
And the number one album was the somewhat more impressive Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep makes me grin... I can't tell you why. Not outside the Temple anyway.

Oh I say!! It always reminds me of the Victoria Wood Italian Waiter Sketch:
VW: How long has the affair been going on?
JW: Well it must have been quite a while because he said their song was Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep.

Oh dear. In the UK it was Young Love by Donny Osmond.
Delta Dawn by Helen Reddy was at No. 1 in the U.S and Australia. Never heard of it.

I know Courtney Cox's version of "Delta Dawn" if that helps.
The UK was rocking to "Prince Charming" by Adam and the Ants the day I was born whilst America swooned to "Endless Love" by Richie and Ross. Poor Australia got lumbered with "You Drive Me Crazy" by Shakin Stevens.
Can't say I've ever really "got" Adam Ant. Maybe you had to be there and be older than I was then. Rick Astley, Whigfield Melanie B was apparantly number one on some of my birthdays.
The number one album was something called "Abacab" by some lost group called "The Genesis" or something.

The number one album when I was born was 'Horizon' by The Carpenters, although I'm rather more pleased that Pink Floyd were finishing off recording 'Wish You Were Here', a chart topper a couple of months later, during the month I was born.
I also notice from that site, that I share the same birthday as Michael Vaughn, vocalist with Nottingham's finest, Paper Lace, whose biggest hit, 'Billy Don't Be A Hero' we were singing down the pub on Saturday!

Talking of Adam and the Ants (yes, you had to be there, Simon!), their first number one (Stand and Deliver) was during my 12th birthday and exactly a year later I became a teenager while Madness were enjoying their only UK chart topper (House of Fun).
Also - looks like England New Order were just hitting the top with World In Motion at the time of my 21st.
