Davros - a theory
Something we discussed at a recent get-together.
In Genesis of the Daleks, it's mentioned that Davros has concluded that there is no life anywhere but on Skaro. And Davros is NEVER WRONG.
However the Daleks, his children have a mission not to dominate, but to remove all forms of life but Dalek life.
Are the Daleks then trying to rewrite history and make the Universe in Davros's image, ie with no life anywhere in the Universe but Skaro/Dalek life?

Well, it's an interesting idea, but I thought he said specifically that he wants them to survive, and that they can only do this by becoming the dominant form of life and subjigating all others. As far as I recall, actually killing off every other form of life totally was only their goal in the last two recent episodes.

Careful, this thread could turn into a religious battle royale! ;-)

On a similar 'Davrosy ponderings' theme - watching Genesis part 3 this morning I notice that Davros refers to himself having been at work in the bunker for 50 years. Clearly very few of the others in the bunker are of that age, so I was wondering whether the original thinking behind Davros' wizened appearance is that he was ancient, and that his chair, life support system, etc were designed by him to prolong his life. I know the BFs, etc have tended to go with the 'hideously wounded in a bomb attack' theory (and I think it's even mentioned in passing in the Target of Genesis) but does anybody know what the makers of the TV episode had in mind?

I think everyone else's opinion is wrong apart from mine.

I've just decided I'm being an archetypical Doctor Who ming mong today.
Later I shall browbeat 2-Entertain over a missing subtitle, read "The Universal Databank" while listening to Malcolm Clarke and then write a four-page fan fiction epic explaining away a minor plot inconsistency in "The Claws of Axos".

I hate the Ming-Mong phrase. It's nasty.

I know. I wasn't haven't a go, it's just not something I'm very comfortable about using as deregotary word against certain elements of fandom.

I'd never heard it before and for some reason it made me laugh! It shall henceforth not be used in polite company.

A quick google shows that RTD used it in an interview recently but it would appear to be a phrase that's been used for other Sci-fi fans before Who. I thought it was to do with Victoria Wood's "but Doctor what about the ming-mongs" sketch with Jim Broadbent.
