Although he was a good age (80) that's still rather sad. Bill Cotton seemed to be one of those names, and indeed one of those faces, who often cropped up when people were talking about 'the golden age' of TV, and certainly I think he oversaw some of the best times for television entertainment. Plus I think he can genuinely take the credit for giving the two Ronnies their own show - on that front, the rest is history!
RIP Bill.
