Default Friday Poll No.35: Summer Blockbuster Smash!

Simon and I went to the cinema an unprecedented FIVE times this year! It was blockbuster after blockbuster. But which was best?

    Was it...

The Incredible Hulk? A sequel/remake of the 2005 Hulk movie, this drew on the TV series for an air of melancholy and combined it with some stunning cinematography. Then in the second half it was a big monster mash up.

Wall-E Cute and funny, but was this the director's dream of having a film with no script, made up entirely of storyboards? And what about the MacGuffin factor?

Batman - The Dark Knight The Joker steals the show, until Harvey Dent steals it back. Dark and brutal, but is it too dark? How are you supposed to see a damn thing? And what about the BATVOICE?

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull Even Shia LeBouef (?) couldn't take the shine off this one. A great fun movie, on a par with Temple, if not up to Raiders standards.

Hellboy 2 Hellboy is a wonderful character and this film was an absolute joy. Stunning visuals again, with some of the darker Mignola themes creeping through.

    And that's all the summer!
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I've just remembered why I didn't frequent the cinema at all this Summer

I saw Indy and enjoyed it - it was a triumph, despite the bit where he hid from a nuclear explosion in a fridge.

I was put off Batman by the running time, and didn't see any of the others either.

    Si.

    PS It's not Friday either.

Hellboy 2, just beacuse it was a good film that was funny, exciting and fun. It was my favourite of all the films we saw this summer. Possibly not the best, but my favourite.

    Si xx

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I'd love to vote...but I've not seen any of them.

I'll wait to see them on Sky.

I wanted to be sure this was up and ready in case I didn't have time on Friday. Honest!
Well done to Si for getting out to see Indy.

Hellboy went from strength to strength. The story of faerie folk getting bad ass and striking back was really fun.

It was refreshing for it to be so different from the first movie. It had dark moments, but didn't forget to have fun.

    * The Dark Knight was a good movie, but just so incredibly bleak.
    * The Incredible Hulk I don't think was a patch on Ang Lees Hulk which was a much more intelligent take.
    * Wall-E was good old fashioned Pixar fun, but nothing exceptional.
    * Indiana Jones somehow just didn't have the magic of the first movies.

And thank yourself lucky you didn't get to see The Mummy 3.

I also didn't get to see any movies at the theater this summer. Actually, I think the last movie we saw at the theater was Ratatouille(spl) last summer. And before that was probably The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe in... Dec 2006?

Before we had kids we'd sometimes see two movies at the theater in a day.. how times have changed.

It's like one of those bi-elections where the only candidates are UKIP, Tory, Raving Independent Right Wing Tory and Simon Hughes.

Where the hell is Iron Man and Prince Caspian ?

And my vote would go to Kung-Fu Panda anyway

(anything above certificate 12A is way too scary for me now )
    Bazinga !
