The Reference Book Wars: pt 7
We're taking a bit of side step this week, as we look at the autobiographies of some of the stars of Doctor Who from down the years. Sometimes Doctor Who is the focus of these, sometimes it's just a small part of a larger story, but Doctor Who feature in them all.
So your choices this week are:

It has to be Tom, for writing one of the best selling and most entertaining autobiographies on the list. A great read from a great man.
Actually I have to say, having read all of these I thoroughly enjoyed them all, and there's much to recommend in all of them. Even the Pertwee ones Just kidding!

I've voted for Self-Portrait. As much as Tom's book is brilliant, it's been diluted a bit because it's over-familiar.
Anneke's book is a real catharsis, however. The writing style and detail make it a genuine and moving auto-biography, it's not designed to be marketed and it doesn't pull any punches! It's a fascinating look at the slightly bohemian life of an actress growing up in the 50's and 60's.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I've voted for Tom's book, mainly because it's the only one I've read, but also because it's funny, laugh-out-loud and very revealing memoir from a truly bonkers mind!
I've just remembered, Dee's still got my copy of this!

Who on Earth... is a stunning, intimate and extremely funny book.
One Day, I shall come back, Yes, I shall come back,
Until them, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties, Just go forward in all your beliefs,
and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine!

My memory of reading Who On Earth Is... is of coming away from it liking Tom less than before. I've been meaning to reread however, one of thesy years I will.
I did enjoy Five Rounds Rapid though. Nick Courtney's always worth listening to.

I voted for Tom, but Still Getting away with it was a close second (and a much better book than the 5 rounds rapidly cash-in)
Bazinga !

I have the top 3 & I voted for Moon Boots and Dinner Suits {which I bought from a very nice chap} because although I liked Who on Earth is Tom Baker? it is bound to win & I'd like to see MBaDS get second.

Bum - I've missed a few rounds (sorry Si) after a recent bout of general lethargy and now find I can't vote on this one as I haven't read any of them.

It has to be Tom's as it's the only one I've got/read!

I'm afraid I'm another who's only read Tom's, so he's bound to get my vote - probably. But to be honest, the only thing I can remember from reading it was the disconcerting mental image of him and his friends forming what can only be described as a w*nking circle when they were young.
>Shudder<
So on second thoughts I'll vote for Anneke - no way she'll get through, but I expect it's a fascinating read anyway!
