You don't have to be a completist to get moist over "The Rescue". It's the finest Hartnell!

I love The Rescue. One of my absolute favourite moments ever is when Hartnell is hammering away on Bennett's door, and then they cut back to Vicki's cabin but we still hear him. I'm bracing myself for MArk Ayres to have 'corrected' that 'error' for the DVD release.
But that aside, a DVD of The Rescue will be a delight - The Romans, not so much.

I've always thought "The Romans" is a monumentally dull title for a story, so advertising this story as "The Romans Boxset with William Hartnell" on the BBC Website (with no mention of the future story with a monster that will be packaged with it) conspires to potentially put kids off in droves.

All they have to do is swap round the 'x' and the 't' in the word 'boxset' and they'd sell at least half a dozen more copies.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I'm sensing you're being ironic, but "Time" and "Invasion" are exciting words. "Romans" is not.

They may be exciting words, but they don't always make for an exciting story.

Since the Romans are a perrenial topic in schools, this might be more exciting to kids than you'd imagine, if it wasn't old and in black and white.

Oh really? Let's review...
The Dalek Invasion of Earth: like it.
The Time Meddler: Okay-ish.
The Invasion: Pretty good.
The Time Monster: LOVE IT!
Invasion of the Dinosaurs: LOVE IT!
The Invasion of Time: I like the first three episodes.
Time-Flight: LOVE IT!
Timelash: A bit iffy...
The Trial of a Time Lord: Pretty good, the Ultimate Foe a bit disappointing.
Time and the Rani: Haven't seen it.
Invasion of the Bane: Can't really remember much about it.
So there you go.For every fail, there is an equal and opposite win.
