There's an article here on the RT Website.

Ooh, interesting.
How many B&W stories would be left to release after this?

A bit of a surprise!
And a welcome one! We all know it's a pile of old poo, but there are less entertaining stories and Hartnells are always welcome on our DVD shelf!

Shock! It's incomplete!
Originally thought to be intact in the BBC archives, research for this DVD release brought some surprising news...This translates to seven seconds of cuts to episode two and ten seconds of cuts to episode four.

I'm feeling very spoilt for this year as this is yet another story I don't have in any form (I don't have Attack, E-Space Trilogy, Romans/Rescue, Fendhal or Planet of the Daleks either!)

Well, I love all those stories anyway. The Tenth Planet will probably get released before some of those... and The Ice Warriors (maybe?)
Oh and Keys of Marinus is another one to look forward to LOOK AT THAT FABULOUS BUILDING!!!!
A key release, not one to a-voord. Don't miss it, you wouldn't want that on your conscience.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

....and possibly The Moonbase, though we already have the two existing epsiodes on DVD so it'd have to be a a special re-con for that to happen - same goes for The Crusade, too.

Do you think these few missing seconds of footage contain full-frontal nudity, drug abuse, or gratuitous violence?

I always like to think of "Marinus" as the first real crap "Doctor Who" story. "Edge of Destruction" showed hints but this is the first in the long line of badly made, badly written, lumbering great crap uns. It's enjoyable but it's pretty dire really.
At last we can chuck the double pack video out.

Well you've got a point Simon. It's a terrible production of a rather inconsistent script.

It's also the first diabolical Hartnell performance. Gone is the slightly dangerous, mysterious Doctor of the earlier stories.

well I have to say I think it is a reasonably ok story yes it's not one of Hartnell's best but it certainly is not any where near one of his worst.
But I'm pleased it's coming out on DVD, as I think it was one of only a few stories I never got on video as my copy was a rather grimey recording from uk gold.

Yay! I love Keys, it's a great Sunday afternoon story.
The cuts in episode two were 70, 55, 24, 35 and 20 frames respectively and in episode four were 37, 79 and 133 frames respectively. This translates to seven seconds of cuts to episode two and ten seconds of cuts to episode four.

Episode four has to involve Barbara and Vasor, surely?
