Favourite adverts?
There have been few adverts in recent times that have been truely brilliant, but I really do love this one:

Watching it made me think... what are the favourite tv adverts of the denizens of Planet Skaro?

I actually started head-banging to that. I didn't do a little wee though, so I'm proud. This one is long-overdue a return:

They're all very well and good, but when Sky TV decided they wanted something a bit special to advertise bread and butter cartoon show the Simpsons, they came up with a bit of a winner a few years back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brh6KRvQHBc
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Ah I'd forgotten that Simpsons one. As a fan of recreating show openings in my own stylee I must bow down before its greatness!

I like the Which? PC advert where the older man says "When I phone them up they just speak...computer speak!" because it makes me think he's phoned The War Machines instead!

I've always been impressed with the Milky Bar ads, because they take a massive weakness of the product - the fact that it doesn't fill you up at all and so you could feel unsatisfied by it - and spin it so it looks like they intended that all along.
I feel the Frank advert fails on several levels though, the initial shots of Pablo are truly gruesome, but by giving him David Mitchell's voice and having him in lots of other locations takes aware the disturbing aspect and almost makes it comic. Also, the idea that cocaine users are 'chavvy' types, who use disgusting looking toilets will make anyone who does use the drug not take the advert seriously - I don't do it personally, but I know people who do and it so doesn't reflect the use of their habit.
Anyhoo, on to lighter matters:

Guinness produce consistently excellent adverts - my favourite I think is the one waiting in the bar for his pint to finish being poured (yes, you know the one with the little dance) - but I can't stand the one that won the awards (surfer-white horses pretentious nonsense).

LOL that's a good one Wayne. I like pretty much all the old Hamlet ads. It's nice that they have had a rebirth in recent years through viral advertising:

Fantastic! I wonder if the last one was made before permission was sought from Mr. Nation or his estate?
How about this epic, which has always been a favourite of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUVs7vXNZiw
and for anyone curious about the music, then that is revealed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhZBDNQ3gas
On a different note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkPZx0GTiV8 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9K_EkU9KZE are often criminally forgotten!
Going further back, an absolute gem featuring the familiar toners of the much-missed Ian Dury: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCQ6FtHSf6Y"You are ill. You are very, very ill."

Please allow a quick bending of the topic, as I've just found a fantastic new viral ad for a Samsung Mobile phone, detailing the seemingly endless uses it has for our furry, prickly and feathered friends!

Here's a few of my favourites from years gone by...
Tennents Lager
featuring Frankie Miller's version of the Dougie MacLean song Caledonia
One of a series of excellent ads from the 80s for McEwans Lager
Too bad the ads were better than the beer!
and finally...My favourite Hamlet ad!
