If not Murray Gold- then Who Should Write The Music?
Rumour has it Murray Gold is on his way after the specials. Probably not a bad thing, but who would you like to replace him? What style of music would you like- something otherworldly and radiophonic-esque? More of the same only by someone different? Let's talk music!

Murray had a good run really and it's hard to think of a TV composer to replace him. I can't think of any TV shows that have had distinctive, original music. Most of them rely on bands such as Sigur Ros.
So the only guy I can think of could be Howard Shore, who composed the fantastic music to 'Lord of The Rings'. He might be too expensive though.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I don't know any TV composers! But I'd like the music to be a little more subtle and less melodramatic. Murray has done us proud - his arrangement of the theme, and his "Doomsday" music in particular, were superb. But there were times when it would be nice for a scene to have less, or even no, music - the plot explanation in "Runaway Bride" for example, which is actually inaudible because of his music trumping all over it.

I'd obviously like something less melodramatic also, and ideally something radiophonic, although that isn't going to happen.
I think that the best I can hope for is that they use the guy who does the music for SJA, which has IMO been better than Murray's work.“If my sons did not want wars, there would be none.” - Gutle Schnaper Rothschild

I could play my uke ad hoc - given the time it takes me to find chords at the moment there would be a lot of time between musical bits for the dialogue.
Maybe they should spin off a reality talent search show "Who will compose WHO!" (TM & (c) etc me) and have the winner chosen by Norton and Lloyd-Webber. Or just get Susan Boyle to sing random hymns. She seems popular enough...Creator of Doctor WHeasel and sometime political radical

Careful how loud you type that. Posting the idea on PS is only a heartbeat away from it appearing in "The Sun" as an Official Rumour.

OMFG!!!! SUSAN BOYLE IS APPEARING IN THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!!!!!!!
She will be playing Maaga, leader of the all-female Drahvins.
A reliable source informed me the other day, he took a photo of her filming but you couldn't tell it was her because she had her hair done up different.

Maybe Si's friend MArk Ayres would do it.
I don't really know any TV composers - although matey who did the TVM is still working I believe. I suppose, based on the new powers-that-be, whoever does the music for Ashes to Ashes, or for Jekyll, might well be favoured candidates.
