The music from the Cushing Films is Coming!
Dr. Who & The Daleks brought the legendary BBC sci-fi series to the cinematic big screen in glorious Technicolor and widescreen in Aug 1965, followed a year later by Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.
Released for the first time on CD, here are the soundtracks to both films including sound effects, contemporary single releases and a 20 page inlay booklet packed with memorabilia and detailed production notes.
The vibrant period scores written by Malcolm Lockyer and Bill McGuffie, have sections enhanced by electronic sounds created by Barry Gray, famed for his work with Gerry Anderson.
Lovingly restored from the vaults of Pinewood Studios, this project has been eagerly awaited for many years by Doctor Who and sci-fi fans.
Coming from Silva Screen on October 5th

What are those three singles then? I've never heard of any of them! I was expecting Tovey's two and that's all.

They are the themes from the films that were re-recorded. They're on the Resistance is Useless CD.

What's the "Resistance is Useless" CD? I feel I've slipped into a time warp where a whole dimension of Doctor Who tat has passed me by!
Dissapointing that "The Eccentric Doctor Who" isn't a Tovey rarity. This is a classy set though - a slight shame there are hints that as usual the second film has been treated as second best.

Surely we must be due another re-issue of the wretched films on DVD.
I'd still like to see them (in colour) on the big screen one day. Just to say I'd seen them thus.

They showed them at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith a few years back - did ye not hear about it? Or was it more that actually being presented with the prospect of seeing both the Dalek Films all the way through filled you with dread?
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

It's really very good. If you like that kind of thing, of course. It's lovingly packaged and the music from the first film is really rather marvellous it turns out. The stuff from 2150AD is less impressive, but that might in aprt due to the difficulties they had with it, as all they had to work from a copy of the music mixed with the effects- and the sound effects are quite intrusive in parts.
