Return of The Ellis-Bextor
Sophie Ellis-Bextor is finally releasing some new music after a three year gap. She's started the promo duties for "Catch You" a Blondie-esque Cathy Dennis co-write number...

Will it be a hit? Her first album did well but the second was badly promoted and abondoned after only 2 singles. Her third solo album "Trip The Light Fantastic" is out later in the year.
Take her home.

I've always liked Sophie.
she's an attractive girl, with some good songs! Murder on the Dance Floor is brilliant!

She was looking good on that New Year thing with Kraplinksky the other night.

She's a bit cat-like. I have no objection to her harmless pop fare, though it'll take something special for me to exchange tokens of money for any of it.

I wish her well. I think I could quite like her with just a little bit of effort. is it worth the effort?

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Her new website opens tomorrow, I'll be giving it a look, I'm a fan
(her version of Take Me Home is one of the best pop singles ever, for me)

You have to love Sophie if just because she helped scuttle Victoria Beckhams pop career and deny her a number one.
Well it's murder on the dance floor!

I knew, just knew someone would mention Mrs Beckham on this thread. Let's not forget who won their last chart battle though...Mrs Becks at 3 and Miss E-B at number 9 in January 2004. Pity neither of them released anything else after that, until now of course in Sophie's case.

Cameras were desperate for some upskirt shots when she was performing on Popworld and GMTV the other day. Too much leg on display for me.

'Catch You' is rather, um, catchy. It's better than any of the singles off her last album, none of which I can remember right now.

Help! My 17 year old Daughte is a massive SEB fan. Kind of sits strangly with her other tastes. Actually a major Maximo Park fan as well.

"Me And My Imagination" could well be her best single since "Take Me Home".

There's a "Greatest Hits" dropping before christmas it seems.
Oh.

Wouldn't mind a Greatest Hits DVD...

I made a blinking Greatest Hits but the other week.
It's a shame we won't get Love Is Here as a single, that would have been a smash! It's glorious!
Hey, ho.

I don't remember "Love Is Here" but "If You Go" was the potential smash of that album.
The Greatest Hits is gonna have to be padded isn't it?

She'll do a Nat. Bung on five new songs to get it up to a twelve-tracker.

Yes! I love their one and only album. Some great singles too, and then they split and "Groovejet" catapulted her to stardom. It could have been so much different- apparently Saint Etienne's Sarah Cracknell was first choice to sing it!
I have Sophie's first album, but it's not one I came to love.

For the record, my Sophie collection ran as follows:
Groovet (If This Ain't Love)
Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me)
Murder On The Dancefloor
Get Over You
Move This Mountain
Music Gets The Best Of Me
Mixed Up World
I Won't Change You
Circles (Just My Good Time)
Catch You
Me And My Imagination
Today The Sun's On Us
...more than enough singles there!
I also added Love Is Here (it was blinking scheduled then!), Physical and One Way Or Another as bonuses. Yes Sir, I Can Boogie would be nice on the official one.
Sophie is that rare commodity of a genuinely witty and versatile popstar with her very own clear identity and style. She should be celebrated and raised to the top of the charts! But alas the charts are full of crap these days.
