IMO the covers have been dull for years now - and are in desperate need of a redesign

I think a redesign 10 years into the range and 2 years from its end would please practically everyone.

I'm reading the Target novel of this at the moment.

    That is all.

it's not so much the covers but the flying TARDIS and the menu page which now look very drab and dated .

I don't know why really, but I thoroughly enjoyed the little feature with Christopher Barrie talking about his career. It was lovely and gentle and just really nice.

Is there any contribution from David Fisher? I really enjoyed his slightly wry comments on The Leisure Hive, but I didn't see his name mentioned in the piece in DWM.

No. There's no making of documenary really- just a look at how they made Erato with the visFX team, but not really a great deal about the rest of the story.

We've done three episodes this weekend. It's a mix of good and bad. The first few minutes are faultless, the script is good and Myra, Dame Way and Geoff Bayl are great and perk things up. Unfortunately the bandits are crap and drag the whole thing down, as does the patchy visualisation of the Creature. To be honest, I don't object to the big willy. It's the odd split screen shots of it later, when they're trying to patch over their mistake, that ruin it.

The creature is just awful. They really should have done it all as a model or something. Anything but the giant carrier bag with the whopper sausage.

We've finished it. The feature on Christopher Barry was nice, though someone could have thought up a more interesting title for it than "Christopher Barry: Director". We've come up with "Barry On Directing" and "Young, Hung and Full of Rum" as alternatives.

Does the Memory Cheat, or is the shot of Erato at the end of part 2 (as the Doctor walks towards it) really very good? I seem to recall it being very convincing.

It's got the best Doctor Who jungle ever. That's what I've decided. It's great because at no point does Christopher Barry think about using it in the studio, so it never looks overlit or flat or like a studio with some plant in it. It's a great decision and sadly it tends to get overlooked because it's in season 17 where everything was rubbish (apparently). I was really pleased the prodcution notes made a big thing out of it.

The sets are good overall. Especially the jungle and the palace. It's only really "Eden" and "Horns" that look shite in that Season!

But in Planet of Wretched they mix the 'studio' and 'Ealing' shots, creating an unconvincing piebald jungle. With Creature From The Pit the jungle has the same look throughout.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
