Default A new venture - writers required!

    Hello all,

This is a call for writers, more than anything else!

I'm looking at starting up a Doctor Who e-fanzine, which will go out quartlerly over the internet, with the aim of publishing the first issue in late June/early July.

I was wondering if anyone would like to contribute. If so, please either send me a PM, or e-mail me via my profile (please note that my ant@planetblaze.com e-mail address no longer works)

I am looking for articles on all aspects of Doctor Who - new series, old series, books, audios, merchandising, whatever! Even humourous articles

In a way it feels like fandom has come full circle! I know in the 80s there was a flourishing trade in fanzines - I was involve in the mass printing / collating / stappling of one. But in the mid-90s the internet seemed to be killing them off, as some kind of made the jump to forums, but the fanzine died.

Now the fanzine is back ... though often in pdf format.

I'll try and see if anything interesting comes to mind. The last article I wrote for a fanzine about 15 years ago was the possible science of regeneration. I know a few people enjoyed it, but I think there's too many strong biology scientists around to pull it to pieces now! Plus it involved nanites ... which everyone knows are more Star Trek territory!

    Excellent, thanks Paul!

Looks like the first lead article will be a retrospective of the RTD years, so don't do anything on that!

I was scratching my brain about this - I think I've found an old article which could do with a radical makeover, but might just make an article.

I'll gladly help out if you need me to Ant. Either give me a breif, or I could write a front line report on Making Audio Doctor Who or something.

I'd like to help out - I write quite a bit in my spare time. I might be useless at coming up with ideas but if you throw a feature idea my way I can pen something! Mainly new series/spin-off stuff. I'll flick you a PM.

For every fail, there is an equal and opposite win.

C'mon shada - how about a high level discussion on the evolution of companions costumes.

    Which is best ... Zoe's catsuit ...

    Leelas chamais leather outfit ...

    Romana's school uniform ...

    Debate ...

Catsuit, coz Padders is wearing it!!!

Not a very high level discussion but that's my thoughts on the matter (and I'm sure a certain Pip would agree with me)

If you can string that argument into a sentence ... or perhaps even article, then write it my dear boy!

I seem to have been possessed by the spirit of Hartnell in writing those words!

After watching Castravalva, I think you could have a small quote each issue called the Wit of Shardovan! "Why are all these women here? Is it a holiday?"

Which led me to think that an article on comedy in Who would be good.

That does sound interesting - I know the temptation would be to overplay the work of Douglas Adams. But you're right, there have been elements of comedy in almost all the incarnations of the Doctor. Some of them kind of cringeworthy!

The trouble with that is that there's so much comedy in Doctor Who which was never intended to be funny...

True. But that could be another angle for the article.

    Good point!

An article on The Chase could be spread over many, many issues...
