I'm all a bit obsessed with The National right now, Conversation 16 especially, though the rest of High Violet does it for me as well.
"RIP Henchman No.24."

I'm probably in all sorts of money worries with my bank (And the CD was only £5.99 from Amazon!) but it's been worth it for the amazingly soulfull Ruth Copeland double CD "Self Portrait" and "I Am What I Am".
She doesn't cover "I Am What I Am" but I urge you all to You Tube "The Music Box", "The Medal", "Crying Has Made Me Stronger" and the one that made me think "Yeah... I've really got to get this!", "Suburban Family Lament".
Two records recorded in the 70's and even in this internet age, she's really difficult to track down! I know what to see the Doctor Who stories where she was a companion and learned how to delete all her traces from Earth!*
*=These episodes might only exist in my head.

3rd Oct 2011, 12:36 PM #166Noel Gallagher brands Lady GaGa "Madonna lite"
The singer-songwriter revealed that he is not a fan of GaGa as she is too concerned with being a spectacle, adding that people will not be listening to her music in the future.
Gallagher told Q magazine: "I don't give a f**king monkey's about Lady GaGa. It's all about the meat suit and the controversy.
"Is it about music? Really? She's got the publicity side sorted, but where's the f**king music?"
Twenty years from now, will we be listening to Lady GaGa? No
Lady Gaga: I'm fab
Noel: No, you're shit, love.
Si.

The freebie CD in this months Uncut. It's full of artists who have been heavily influenced by Brian Wilson (including Gruff Rhys - thought I'd lob that one in for Hart & McCow!) The SMiLE box set is out in a few weeks - can't wait!!!!

I'm listening to Björk's new album, Bibliophilia.
She bridges the gap between Bagpuss and Squarepusher techno-glitch like no-one else.

"Sherlock Holmes" by Sparks. A wonderfully inventive band, and still going strong! This is taken from their "Angst In My Pants" album. Possibly the greatest album title ever?? Have a listen here:-
