The Royal Wedding
This is good news, and should perk up the country amid all the job losses and spending cuts.
Prince William has become engaged to his partner Kate Middleton.
Clarence House has confirmed that the couple will marry next year. They will live in North Wales following a ceremony expected to be in the spring or summer.
According to BBC News, the couple became engaged last month during a private holiday in Kenya.
William, who is is second in the line of succession to the throne behind his father Prince Charles, met Middleton when they were studying at the University of St Andrews in Fife in 2001. Their relationship is believed to have begun in December 2003.
The pair were reported to have split up in 2007, but were later seen at public engagements together.
Prime Minister David Cameron has said that he is "delighted" at news of the Royal engagement and that he wishes the couple "all the best", before jokingly adding "She's probably up the duff!"
On Twitter, Labour leader Ed Miliband added: "Delighted for Prince William and Kate Middleton on their engagement. The whole country will be wishing them every happiness."

did people get the day off back in 19892 when his mum got married ?
well other than England, winning the World Cup, a Royal Wedding for Prince William , is about the only thing that will cheer the country up at the moment next to The Queen, he is the most popular Royal, and if the cerbrations of the Queens (golden jubilee) a few years back are anything to go by William's wedding will be another hugely popular event. and let's face it when it comes to all that pomp and pageantry no one dose it better than the British.

Two massively overprivileged people are getting married, and will have a ridiculously expensive party to celebrate, and we're supposed to be excited? Sorry, I just don't understand why (unless it's just excitement about getting a day off work, which then I can!)
and if the cerbrations of the Queens (golden jubilee) a few years back are anything to go by William's wedding will be another hugely popular event"RIP Henchman No.24."

The Royals don't have a good track record with marriages do they? I'm with Alex on this as I am not a royalist.

See, such events are a menace to society! If May is unleashed again, who knows how many will die this time!

"Ew - your dead mother's engagement ring? Why would I want that? What did you do, pry it off her dead fingers?
"Why didn't you buy a new one, you cheap bastard?"
The marriage of Kate and Wills doesn't get off to a good start ...Remember, just because Davros is dead doesn't mean the Dalek menace has been contained ......

Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

A lot of the bill is being footed by the Queen and the Middleton's, apparently. Certainly the dress, flowers etc. And it'll make a lot of money for tourism and local businesses.
Typically, it's the week we're being urged to head off for a holiday with the family.
