Earthstory: Malus Come, Mr Wearp! - The Gunfighters / The Awakening 20th June 2011
In quite possibly the most bizarre pairing of stories ever- The Gunfighters and The Awakening are on their way to DVD this year.
Can anyone find any link, however tenuous between these two?

David Brunt mentioned that each had a Blue Peter presenter appearing in them. Peter Purves and Christopher Wenner.
Now if Kinda wasn't tied up with Snakedance, they could easily have put it together with The Awakening in a Liver Birds box set.

They're both stories with two words in their titles, one of which is "The". And they're both linked to Earth history. And, perhaps most convincingly of all, I have the hardback rather than paperback versions of their respective Target Adaptations.
So there you go, it's "The 'The' Curnow's Hard Ones Collection".
Erm...

The presence of David Graham in The Gunfighters and Dennis Lill in The Awakening* make this the 'Stories Featuring Supporting Actors Who Also Played Scientists In Fourth Doctor Adventures Who Were Conducting Time-Related Experiments' boxset.
*I nearly mistyped the Awakening with an unfortunately placed extra 'n' that would have made it a much lewder story.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

The obvious answer is ... they have both characters who fight using guns!

11th Jan 2011, 11:25 PM #12They haven't ACTUALLY been released yet. On this form, I'd say there's still time for them to bundle "Kinda" with "Planet of Giants" and "Snakedance" with "Death to the Daleks".
I imagine Dan Hall & co picking box set stories in the manner of the 'balls from a bag' way that the football fixtures are drawn. "Death to the Daleks will be packaged with... Dragonfire."

What happens in it?
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?
If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

They should have put that on Noel Edmonds or something back in the day. It would have been hilarious.

The horse or the gate? Actually, either would've been funny.

It was! Either that or Wogan. I remember Peter Davison talking about it around the time of The Five Doctors or very soon after it. The horse had seen its mare the other side of the gate and just kept on, causing the gate to come crashing down. They didn't have time to remount the scene so they cleverly edited it. Of course, featuring it on an outakes show would make it appear funnier than it actually was.

I've done this, after much struggling with the ordering system. Is it really neccessary to have to register with Sainsburys AND Sainsburys Entertainment?
