It's not like it's coming soon then?
Wel it's still good to hear they're working on the imcomplete stories. I wonder how they're going to fill the gaps?

I thought the policy was that anything that had over half its episodes surviving would eventually get it's own full release?
So The Tenth Planet and The Ice Warriors will probably get their own releases...

I wonder if they count "The Moonbase" and "The Crusade" as already being released since the existing episodes were in "Lost in Time" along with audio versions of the missings one to cover the gap.

There's no reluctance to release incomplete stories, except for leaving them til last for obvious reasons - the policy has been clear for years. Anything with more than half the story existing gets its own release, everything else has been released on "Lost in Time" with soundtracks. I believe they laid this down years ago that time they pledged to release every story.
Which is why their big announcement of "Reign of Terror" coming out in late 2012 is such a non story! They always said it would come out so this doesn't really tell us anything.

well I suppose it's a "big announcement" as it's going to be the first incomplete story released it will be interesting to see what they have done with the missing episodes personaly I'd prefer to see a tele snaps/audio combination similar to what was done on the Ice Warriors VHS release. But that is not an option as from what I understand there are no tele snaps for the two missing episodes.

The joy of DVD technology means they could do a cut-down 15 minute recon (a la the Ice Warriors) and a full length, slower recon and let the viewer pick which to watch - Play All (extended) or Play All (abridged). A recon exists from Loose Cannon so it is definitely possible to create a full length one.
Dennis, Francois, Melba and Smasher are competing to see who can wine and dine Lola Whitecastle and win the contract to write her memoirs. Can Dennis learn how to be charming? Can Francois concentrate on anything else when food is on the table? Will Smasher keep his temper under control?
If only the 28th century didn't keep popping up to get in Dennis's way...

Or they could just show some cheap screen grabs from the existing episodes and get Toby Hadoke to recap the plot with a quick 5 minute voiceover.
Which will it be??

The Ice Warriors and The Tenth Planet have more pulling power than The Reign of Terror. I'd say that this is testing the market (as such, I will buy it on release rather than waiting for it to come down).
Oooh, coconut macaroons!

How can an animated Reign of Terror release be 'testing the market'? Surely that was done with The Invasion with its two animated episodes? And it was quite successful I believe...

I'm confused as to what part Big Finish are playing, since they're an audio production company and this already has a soundtrack.

Perhaps they're putting up some of the money required? They've also got an animation series coming from the same animation company written by Joe Lidster and Nick Briggs, so maybe it's just that they're already a partnership or something?
