Rate My Supporting Character (S1)
For a series that could go anywhere in time and space, Doctor Who Series One did an amazing job of bringing back a wealth of supporting characters, from Rose's family to a planet-hoping, Torchwood-forming, space-slut. All of them were wonderful, but which were the best? Who won you over straight away and who took a bit longer? Are there any of them you still don't like?
Let's have a look at their BBC Biogs:
Jackie Tyler:
"Always ready with a conga and a shepherd's pie". I'd have loved her even more if that were true.
Mickey (de Mick, Mickey) Smith:
"Computer expert, conspiracy expert and lovesick." The last one was some-way true.
Peter Tyler:
"Nothing." Pete is cruelly overlooked!
Captain Jack Harkness:
"Dashing intergalactic rogue." Missed out omnisexual.
Adam Mitchell:
"Nothing." He lasted two whole episodes! Though he was slightly over-shadowed by the Dalek in Dalek.
I think that's all the main ones, but tell us about any others you especially liked.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

"ooh! It's aged you"
Jackie is the best and most iconic of this little lot. I loved her from the start and still think she's one of the best of RTD's characters.

I liked Jackie too, but I think Jack was the best.

Does Pete really qualify as being a supporting character, what with only being in one episode?

Captain Jack was damn brilliant and really set Season 1 alight. It's a shame though that in his repeat usage he's lost that initial sparkle, but I loved his character, he played well off Ecclestones slightly dour-at-times Doctor.
Somehow Jack-Tennant never really had the chemistry. It's ironic when you consider how it sounds like Ecclestone and Barrowman never got on.Remember, just because Davros is dead doesn't mean the Dalek menace has been contained ......

I voted for Ricky, err...Mickey Smith. Wasn't served very well by Boak in Rose, but very quickly improved after that. He's brilliant in Boom Town.
