Daily Express and Daily Mail to Merge?
The Daily Mail and the Daily Express could be merged if proposals move forward, Mark Kleinman reported.
Richard Desmond, the chairman of Express owner Northern & Shell, and Lord Rothermere, chairman of Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT), discussed the idea earlier this year.
Further talks may be held within the next few weeks, but there are no concrete negotiations underway at this moment, Kleinman reported.
"Any deal resulting in the merger of the Express and Mail titles would mark an extraordinary rapprochement between the two proprietors, who for several years fought an almost-daily feud through the pages of their newspapers," he said.
"The two men are now said to get on reasonably well, and I understand both believe that a deal could be in their interests.
"A merger of the titles would create a newspaper powerhouse commanding weekday sales of more than 3m copies."
Would this be a good thing?

I'm not terribly familiar with the Daily Express, but I am aware that the Mail has a pretty large readership already. I suspect that the Express will simply vanish. I doubt this 'Newsprint Powerhouse' would actually materialise.
Both newspapers really sell off the sports pages (in my opinion) and there are only a minority of people who are interested in the main content.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

How about "The Daily Mess"?
M from the Mail and ess from Express. I think it'll sum it up quite well.
What's really sad is the way one of those newspapers has a contract to deliver free copies to libraries so this is where people are getting their information from. No wonder there were two kids running past my house shouting racist abuse at someone and claiming to be "Taking England back".
But hey, that's for another thread.
The Daily Mess.
Why buy two lots of crap when you can just buy one?
