Hitch Hiking back to Stage
I want to see this!
It has been revealed that the original cast of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (aka H2G2), the radio show based on the best-selling novel by Douglas Adams, are to tour the acclaimed sci-fi comedy next year.
Simon Jones, the original Arthur Dent, exclusively revealed on BBC Radio 3's Breakfast programme this morning that: "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is going on the road next year with all the original principle members of the cast."
The tour will take in various cities. Jones said the cast will appear as themselves, with the aim of "reconstructing and reimagining a recording with live sound and live music."
Jones did not specify exact cast details, but the other principle members of the original radio cast included Geoffrey McGivern as Ford Prefect, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox, Susan Sheridan as Trillian and Stephen Moore as Marvin the Paranoid Android. For the 1981 TV sitcom, David Dixon played Ford, whilst Sandra Dickinson was Trillian. It is not known who will play the voice of The Book, originally voiced by the late Peter Jones. William Franklyn provided the voice when the radio series returned in 2004, whilst Stephen Fry narrated the 2005 big-budget Hollywood film.
Details of the venues that The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy tour will visit next year will be revealed at a later date.

It sounds really like an "on tour convention".
Remember, just because Davros is dead doesn't mean the Dalek menace has been contained ......

2012 Hitchhiker's Guide Radio Show Tour / Douglas Adams' Virtual 60th / Logo Comp
11th March 2012 would have been Douglas Adams’ 60th Birthday.
To celebrate this event, Douglas' family and friends, in association with 'Save The Rhino' (one of Douglas' favourite charities) are holding a very special birthday celebration in his honour at the Hammersmith Apollo in London...
Douglas Adams the Party: Virtual 60th
The event will feature science, music, comedy and interviews with some very special guests, including Prof. Brian Cox, Robin Ince, Terry Jones, Dara O’Briain, Stephen Mangan and many more.... (TBA)
Tickets will be available before Christmas 2011. More details soon.
~
LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION:
They are holding a unique competition for a fan to design a logo for the event.
The title is: Douglas Adams the Party: Virtual 60th
The 'Save The Rhino' committee were thinking of a logo that looks like a rubber stamp (akin to the HHGG movie) but maybe also in the shape of a birthday cake. Other ideas are very welcome. The logo must work on a 16x9 format video screen as well as in print and it can be in colour. It must have the title of the event included in the logo.
The prize, should they select your design, is that they would use your logo in all event related material – online, in print and projected on the night. They would also give you two free tickets for the event.
All logo designs should be sent to jo@savetherhino.org by midday on Wednesday 23 November 2011.

We would if it was a weekend, but a weekday might be a bit tricky.
Nice to see TV theme tune veteran Philip Pope doing the music though!
