Audio CDs on PC ?
Just a plea for advice.
Got a new PC at the start of the year with a single DVD - CD RW drive.
Decided to copy some of my music CDs onto the hard drive to listen to - but the first 5 discs I tried don't seem to be recognised as being there (Windows media Player and Real Player don't seem to think there is a disk in the drive).
Any ideas ? - if the PC won't recognise them, how can I get them on and so onto my mp3 player ? Or will I have to pay to download albulms I already own just to have digital copies of them ?
(PS audio discs and BFs work fine BTW)Bazinga !

Could possibly be Digital Rights Management on the discs.

Does it recognise DVD's?

I'm sure we've had something similar. Have you tried accessing the CDs with a different program (eg. Winamp or VLC?)

It recognises DVDs fine - even home recorded ones - and plays them.
I wondered about other software, which is why I downloaded and installed Real Player yesterday, but it still says no disc in E: (the media drive), and if I click play CD or DVD in Real Player it just causes the disc to ejevt and asks me to put a disc in.Bazinga !

Have you searched for/received Updates for your video driver?

Nope, could try that next.
Having selected a vast number of discs at random it does seem to be just certain discs, so maybe it is some kind of protection thing (FTR the main ones have been REM albums and James Blunt)Bazinga !

It's bizarre that it recognises PS Audio CD's and not bought CD's...
Si.

It might be the driver for the optical drive itself.

It does have taste though for not recognising your James Blunt CD.
