Rita from the God Complex (and after all, Amy and Rory were 'leaving' in that episode...)
(My ex was called Zoe. Sorry guys, nothing as exotic as you might have thought. Still, at least she wasn't called Barbara!)
Which story would have worked best as a single drama, if you took all the 'Doctor Who stuff' out?
-

Apart from 'Mission To The Unkown'? Probably the three 7-parters from Pertwee's first season. You could have just had UNIT versus the Primords, Ambassadors (of death) and Silurians. Would have made for a creepy 70's sci-fi/horror series.
What are the scariest things in Doctor Who?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I'm sure everyone thinks monsters or shock moments for scary things, but personally the scariest things to me are the times when the Doctor or companion finds themselves confronted by someone with the power of life and death over them who simply will not listen to their version of events or believe they are not guilty of whatever he is accusing them of despite the vast piles of evidence accumulating that contradict his insistences.
I find that scary because there really are people that moronic in the world, who will sooner dismiss the entire world as wrong than examine their own notions. General Williams in Frontier in Space is the quintessential example. No matter how many times he hears the same story from Jo or the Doctor, under whatever threat he presents and after however long in a cell, he insists they are spies. He even puts the Doctor under the mind probe, which he is certain is infallible until it tells him something he doesn't want to hear: that the Doctor is innocent and he is wrong!
What's the first scene that pops into your head at the mention of the word 'Cybermen'?

It has to be the surprise appearance at the end of Earthshock episode 1
Bronze Daleks or the new Dalek paradigm?
-
1st Dec 2011, 1:50 PM #82
Bronze. The new Dalek paradigm are the worst, most absurdly cheap, plastic-toy-like, not remotely threatening, candy-coloured, power-rangers-esque rubbish idea the new series has had so far. Let's take a classic design that has been largely unaltered for almost 50 years as it is so iconic and re-make it. Great idea....
Which is the best Cyberman design?

I'm quite fond of Mark I. I think the closer they are to human, the more disturbing they are. The stompy robotic ones of the new series are too far removed from humanity to have the same effect.
Is there any story you really never want to watch again?
-
1st Dec 2011, 2:30 PM #84
Curse of The Black Spot!
Although maybe I will, to see if it is just as dreadful as I remember it.
Daleks! Will the Universe ever be free of those metallic misfits?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
-
1st Dec 2011, 4:45 PM #85
Gosh I hope not!
That said. Are you in favour of the current Dalek hiatus or do you want to see them back in the series 7 opening story?
-
1st Dec 2011, 6:31 PM #86
No - give them a rest for a while then bring them back in the 2013 Christmas Special, which will just about coincide with the 50th anniversary of their first appearance.
Which story, which everyone seems to really like, just doesn't really do it for you?
-
1st Dec 2011, 6:38 PM #87
Blink, obviously.
Same again please?
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

The Seeds of Doom.
Which missing adventure (ie, missing from the archives) do you most wish you'd been able to watch on transmission?
-
1st Dec 2011, 7:39 PM #89
I think I'd have loved The Smugglers, had I been around for it.
Which story that's missing from the archives do you most think of as a blessing in disguise?
-
2nd Dec 2011, 12:04 PM #90
Fury from the Deep. It sounds marvellous, but six episodes of people being menaced by weeds and foam might not look so great were we to have the episodes intact to view.
On a similar topic, which stories would you use to fill in the blanks:
'How come they wiped *blank* but kept *blank*, for heaven's sake?!'
-
2nd Dec 2011, 12:14 PM #91
How come they wiped Marco Polo but kept The Sensorites for heaven's sake.
Which single missing episode would you most like to see returned?
-
2nd Dec 2011, 12:58 PM #92
The Tenth Planet Episode 4, which is highly sought after because it would complete the first Cybermen adventure and we'd have the last episode of William Hartnell's tenure.
Who would you have like to have seen made an appearance in the show when they were considered for a part in a story but didn't get it in the end?
-
2nd Dec 2011, 5:14 PM #93
Ben Kingsley as Davros! Okay, so we've no idea whether or not he really was considered, but there were very strong rumours of it for a while, and - well, can you imagine?
Who would you choose as the next showrunner (be as fanciful as you like)?
-
3rd Dec 2011, 9:08 PM #94
George Lucas. No, not really. Ignoring the fact that I don't think we necessarily need a 'showrunner' (what's wrong with a Producer producing and some Writers writing - then perhaps we'd stop hearing interviews where the showrunner talks about never getting any time off) then if forced I guess I'd go for... Christopher H Bidmead. Oh yes!
Romana 1 or Romana 2?
-
3rd Dec 2011, 9:10 PM #95
Romana 2, obviously.
Who are your favourite TARDIS team?

-

It has to be Jar Jar. That would be so awesome. 'Mesah think is Timey-de-wimey doctors!'
Which Star Trek character would make the best companion?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
