PC repairs.
It appears my pc power unit has developed a problem. It's making a noise like an internal cooling fan is failing & my pc is now refusing to boot up.
Has anyone had any experience of this sort of thing? Is a power unit hard/expensive to change?
Any & all ideas appreciated.

Hi Tim,
The first thing to do (if you haven't already) is to open the case, turn it on and check the noise is coming from where you think it is. It could be that the processor fan or the hard drive has gone instead of the power unit.
A power unit is about £30 (as far as I can recall) and the hardest part is pulling the connector(s) off the motherboard. Just make sure you press the plastic clip in, otherwise all the pulling in the world won't work.
If you are unsure, you can always take it to PC repair shop.Assume you're going to Win

The power unit went on my old PC a few years ago - same thing as Tim described (very noisy then nothing). AFAIR it only cost about £40 at a local PC repair shop.
