Returning Characters!
Which have you enjoyed in "The Next Universe"? And which would you like to see in the final episode?
I can reveal that there are more old voices on the way... friends AND enemies...

I'm hoping for Daniel from Soap, Daniel Everett from Christmas Spirits and the Voice of the Future...
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Hmm - have we got a full cast list for The Next Universe? It seems to me that just about everyone was in it, from Vera Jundrey to Gene Bradley to the Master and The Baron of Boralis! (Baron?)
In all truth, the cameo that made me laugh the most was Jonno as Lionel Langton. A perfect piece of re-casting and a fitting homage to the original actor!
It was great to have Nick and Rosalind in, making a full set of companions.
I only wish there had been room for Fnubz!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Part of the aim of "Asylum" was to have an adventure to say farewell to all of the characters in Martin's world, hence why they don't appear here - Garane (apart from regeneration cameo), Mills (though he ended up not being in Asylum), Rallik, Kilaraxxians and so on. "Asylum" was the last hurrah for those characters.
There was a very early plan to bring the Protii back, and a scene actually recorded with Humba!

That Humba never realised his full potential, you know! I bet he'll be back some day...

I casino way Humba will ever be back.

I see what you did there. I think you might have to wait till next year to see if that particular "lost" story finally emerges.
Just to mention that I just relistened to Part 3 and love the scene between Linda and Molly. I'm so proud that I got to introduce Rob's sister in Merry Christmas Rob McCow
Of course at some point when I get around to tieing up the other loose ends from that story (Linda and Gordane, Emma's discovery about her father and the connection to Rosalind) I'll have to add an explanation for the now seemingly impossible photo from the future of Rob reunited with his family not to mention Ricky's brief adoption by the Hats and Ben's reunion with the Celestial Toymaker (I'm working on the assumption that they were both real in the death zone as that makes things a lot more interesting).

It's all such a wonderful tangle isn't it?
