Nope.
Savile could have become a child killer!
Jimmy Savile was questioned by detectives investigating the Yorkshire Ripper murder, West Yorkshire Police confirmed on Wednesday.
A senior officer who worked on the inquiry revealed the disgraced DJ was a suspect in the notorious case more than 30 years ago on Tuesday.
John Stainthorpe, a former detective with West Yorkshire Police, said the Leeds-born presenter was approached after an anonymous tip-off.
Mr Stainthorpe, who spent 40 years in the force, told ITV's Calendar News: "When the Ripper was really active, one of the suspects put forward by the public was, in fact, Jimmy Savile.
"Obviously, it was not he, but he was interviewed along with many others."
He said the person who reported Savile was "aiming in the right direction".
"Child perverts soon become child killers," he added.

Although maybe not really the point, that is just an absurd quotation isn't it - now the media can start labelling him 'potential child killer' as well as abuser. Plus, not to linger on the subject, but the Yorkshire Ripper's victims were women not children weren't they; so surely the connection between the two cases is tenuous at best?
The implication of that piece seems to be "Saville wasn't the Yorkshire Ripper, but he might as well have been" which is an appalling slant to put on a story which is actually "he was interviewed about it, but turned out to have no connection with the case whatsoever." By all means, demonise the man for things he did, but not for something he didn't - you or I, if it was us, would I'm sure take a very dim view if we had been questioned by the police about something we had no involvement or connection with at all, and then found it splashed all over the papers in a "no smoke without fire" sort of way.
And just to be really picky, do child perverts soon become child killers? Surely there are generally considered to be a lot more paedophiles around than there are killers of children???

It's like Chris Morris never happened.

Well you know how passionate I am about comedy, and I guess he's just always been one of my main influences and someone I admire enormously. Subtlety's not always his thing, admittedly, but I'd definitely recommend checking out The Day Today, Brass Eye, and is recent film Four Lions.

BBC Four Boss: Right! We're not going to show any Top Of The Pops presented by Jimmy Savile. Now that nonsense has been dealt with, we can repeat the episodes where we left off! Three cheers for the BBC!
Newsman: And ex-Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis has been arrested. His arrest was thought to be not linked to the Jimmy Savile inquiry, even though he was arrested through Operation Yewtree.
BBC Four Boss: OH FOR ****'S SAKE!!!
Nobody wins... this means Noel Edmonds and Tony Blackburn are a safe pair of hands...

So what happens with edition of Top of the Pops presented by Jimmy Saville or DLT which have performances by Gary Glitter? Presumably the master tapes now have to have stakes driven through them and then to be buried in deep ocean trenches encased in glass.

I don't think you're far off. Honestly it's a good thing they wiped so many of them in the first place, since now they're never likely to be seen again.
