There's more chance of them making it look as though David Cameon knew what he was doing!

So what do we think about Reece Shearsmith playing Pat?

Well I'll have to see how it works. I thought it would only be about the series getting developed. Didn't realise it was going to go all the way up to the second Doctor. It's the gift that keeps on giving!

He could be quite good going by how mischievous Pat was.

It's an interesting choice, but he's such a chameleon, I reckon he could pull it off. There's more on this here along with further cast news.
Also, did anyone see the pictures of the 'Dalek Invasion of Earth' recreation yesterday? Lovely!
We are the bastards of Earth!

I haven't seen the pictures but I've seen the Mark Gatiss video diary of that shoot.

I'm really, really looking forward to this!
Even if we get nothing 'special' from the series itself this year, AAITAS will be more than enough of a celebratory feature for me!

Hartnell's console room returns!
HereI’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

I saw those pics earlier today and they sent a shiver down my spine. They've got the look spot on.

There's talk that they've now also cast Jackie Lane and Maureen O' Brien, while Peter Purves has apparently said that someone is playing him, so it looks like this drama may cover the whole Hartnell era, rather than just the beginning.

I think the casting of Mr Troughton might have already suggested that...
-

Not necessarily - the original suggestion was that the Hartnell/Troughton regeneration was to be a framing device, before flashing back to the beginning of the series. Now, though, it's suggested that we will see the whole era portrayed in chronological order. However, this is of course all guesswork, and it remains to be seen what form the narrative will take.

It would make sense to cover the whole Hartnell era. What the fans want to see are the re-creations of the sets and actors. I don't think an hour of Sydney Newman having lots of boring meetings in offices and agonising over whether he should put the series on the screen would really cut it.
There are at least half a dozen interesting anecdotes from the Hartnell era that could be used to frame the story.
But what would Dennis Brent make of it all?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

He'd probably be able to point out all 1069 factual errors made. Right down to the fact that there were 2 left-handed vision mixers used during Hartnell's tenure.

He's know what colour the original TARDIS console was supposed to be!
