Blimey Mr Simm - a lot of actors would give their right arm and a whole lot more to play a role like that. Don't be so ungrateful.

Awwww, has poor Simmy Diddums played two of the most iconic cult characters of the last ten years?
He'll be glad of it in 20 years.
Oooh, coconut macaroons!

Maybe I'm being presumptuous and judgemental (my two main personality traits!) but it sounds to me like John is having a totally normal reaction to being recognised *everywhere*. He didn't say anything too bad about the fans, just that he was a bit fed up of being chased about it all the time.
He's being quite honest really.
However, with actors I often think that they need to be able to 'act' all the time. Despite what they're feeling inside ("I'm bloody sick of these pale, pasty obsessives!") they should be able to bury that and put on a performance. That's what people like Jon Pertwee or any of the older generation of stage actors were so good at.
Then again, performing for a crowd seems to be a very different skill to performing on TV these days. There's a difference between a natural entertainer and an actor - but should there be?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I agree with Steve. Playing high profile tv roles does not mean he should put up with being approached and heckled when he's doing his shopping.

He said on Twitter that this was all fabricated. He doesn't give interviews and he's proud to have been in Who.
