Who would YOU like to write for the new series?
which authors/scriptwriters would you like to write for the new series? which ones who've already written for it, but haven't been given a second outing would you like to see return?
Personally, I'd like to see what Lawrence "Mad Larry" Miles could do with it, under VERY strict observance from RTD, obviously.
I'd also like to see Rob Shearman return. Perhaps this time an adaptation of The Chimes of Midnight? I would love to see him do The Holy Terror, but I fear that it'd be too adult/gory for Doctor Who!

I'd like to see Peter J Hammond have an episode in the future & Mark Gatiss & Steven Moffat.

I don't know about Lawrence Miles, but I'd love to see Shearman back. It beggars belief that he's not been lured back into the fold.
I would like a Paul Magrs script, and a Pip and Jane Baker one!

What about a Terrence Dicks script!

I'd like to see Joe Ahearne write for the show, after his really rather good scripts for Ultraviolet.
But like Si, I also think a Paul Magrs TV adevnture would be something rather special!

Paul Cornell would also be high on my list.

I think Paul Cornell is high on Russell's list too!
I could put together a rum old list of 'proper' sci-fi authors, but I don't think it would really work having the likes of Stephen Baxter or Iain Banks writing episodes.
Everyone says Shearman, but what about Marc Platt, perhaps? Or Lloyd Rose? Or even Nick Wallace.
Failing that, Jeremy Clarkson.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Has to be Marc Platt, his plotting is just so intricate, a bit like moffat and decent plot is the area the new series is really lacking.
Mad Larry Miles as well, because he writes a good yarn.
Nick Walters, because i'd love to see what he could do on TV, his books have been the best of the who novels.
Bruce Dickinson, because i'd love to see what he would produce for who!

James Lindsay. His story would be cool and awesome and highly predictable.

Maureen O'Brien. (If that's the correct spelling). She could write Doctor Who's first sexy murder mystery!

I don't think we want her stories of mushroom tips on BBC1 at 7pm!

Terrance Dicks, PJ Hammond or Charlie Higson. Is it time to let Ian Levine have another go?

Can you imagine the episode? It would definitely be nothing like this.

I'm disappointed no one has mentioned Nick Briggs. You'd have a 50/50 chance it would be better than average.

Nick Briggs, Terrance Dicks, Jimmy McGovern (how left wing could you make a tv show), Peter Hammond, Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore.

I certainly would like to see some Chris Bidmead stories for the older Doctors, but I don't think his thoughtful, intelligent and science-heavy style would suit the new show.

Just imagine the episode!!!!

I think Mr.McGovern would be better off on Torchwood.
Let's have a Brannon Braga episode of Doctor Who! He could encounter a weird anomaly that made everyone behave strangely and solve it by modifying part of the TARDIS. It would be spectacular!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I agree that Rob Shearman should write another script soon, and it would be good to see Nick Briggs, Joe Ahearne and PJ Hammond have a crack at it.
Personally, though, I'm holding out for Paul Abbott and Tony Jordan.
