The Web of Fear - Menace Spreads to DVD 24/02/14
by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln
The TARDIS narrowly avoids becoming engulfed in a web-like substance in space. It then arrives in the London Underground railway system, the tunnels of which are being overrun by the web and by the Great Intelligence's robot Yeti.
Also available on iTunes.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

It's great that such a highly regarded story has been found and will be making it's way to DVD soon. However, it will be disappointing that Episode 3 will not be on it (or has it really been found only the person with it is using it as bartering material due to it being Lethbridge-Stewart's first appearance and it's going to be announced soon?). How will they present the episode as they probably won't have time to do an animated reconstruction? Interesting...

Fantastic find. This was top of my list for obvious reasons. I wont be downloading from iTunes though and will pre-order and wait for the DVD to arrive.
I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

It's got a fantastic cover, hasn't it? I still can't quite believe I've got The Web of Fear on pre-order! Just wow!
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

I'll think of something...
And I take it that by "all being well", Si means that nothing more will turn up in the archives...

I'm playing devil's advocate. I'm not as bleeding obvious as Mr Levine!

Never went for the download, but I'm really looking forward to the five episodes on one DVD for the first time.
I still think, without seeing it yet, that I might prefer The Enemy Of The World, but it'll be interesting to see if that changes.
It's going to be a better Troughton than The Krotons and The Dominators though!

You know, the more I look at the cover, the weirder Troughton's hair looks...

It looks to me like the Yeti is getting ready to switch Troughton's hair with Travers' hat.

Mine arrived this morning...
I can't stop looking at it sitting there on my shelf...it feels 'real' now in a way it didn't before...I just never expected to see this dvd sitting in my collection!

Mine arrived today as well. I'm itching to watch it but with my three year old daughter around, I'd never get to hear it.

Just seen this tweet from Classic Doctor Who:
15,000 units of the The Web of Fear sold in its first week. A new classic #DoctorWho record!

I'm watching it now and episode 4 has just started. This is already my Favourite Troughton story (I know I work for The Underground but I would still love it anyway).

Took me long enough but I've just finished the DVD this afternoon.
I prefer The Enemy Of The World of the two stories. But there was a lot I loved.
I did think the BBC should pay repatriations to Wales due to Evans, for a start!
And was Lethbridge-Stewart ever this cold? That's given me a greater appreciation of the UNIT and Pertwee stories.
The telesnaps for episode 3 didn't take me out of the story.
And it's lovely to hear the Tomb of the Cyberman action theme once again!
Smart enough not to raise hopes over missing episode saga being completed, but if there's more stuff like this out there, then I can't wait to one day see the rest.

There's an article on Den of Geek going into detail about the Covent Garden attack scene!
While I agree with the points made, the article is a little repetitive.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
