The 50th anniversary in the media.
Wasn't sure where to put this, so I thought I might as well start a thread, as the anniversary will likely be discussed in a variety of places this month.
Very interesting article from The Guardian

So he starts off slagging off JNT, then says it was a second golden age, then says he hates Colin's outfit and concludes that there was some nice dialogue in Caves of Androzani.
Nice one!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Seems like Moffat was forced to release Night of the Doctor a little earlier than planned.

The only real surprise there is how they managed to keep it quiet for so long, isn't it?!
Todays Daily Record has a feature on how the Daleks featured in An Adventure in Space and Time were made in Glasgow.

I've just this moment noticed the name of the guy who wrote the piece...it's good to finally see my name in print even if it's really only a namesake!

In the newsagents this morning, I noticed the headline on cover of today's Sun (the Scottish edition)
I can't read the whole story online as I'm not a subscriber to the Sun website, but apparently the independence debate has taken a new twist as to whether on not Scottish viewers would get series such as Doctor Who after a 'Yes' vote...

That could be the vote-breaker!

Music journalist Taylor Parkes has an article about Doctor Who
http://thequietus.com/articles/13940...-taylor-parkes
In Short the new series isn't Doctor Who because it's made in a different way to when it was made in the sixties
I think this comment sums it up best
Yes the new Who shows have had their stupid moments (the entire character of Martha was unnecessary, we didn't need Rose 2.0 and the less said about Spitfires in space or that episode with Peter Kay in it the better) but as you say, the Old Who wasn't missing them either. This entire article reeks of one long grump by someone who thinks stylistic changes mean the death of the soul of the show. The analysis of the older shows was lovely to read, and I fully intend to check them out more, but your critique of the new show came off as shallow, bitter and over-the-top (perhaps the OTT part was on purpose, I don't know). Your major problem with the new series' seems to be that you just don't like how bloody *young* and enthusiastic the new Doctors have become. Well, I hate to say it, but tough, the show is not any the less for it, even if it grates on you.Last edited by dalekkiller; 22nd Nov 2013 at 3:25 PM.

22nd Nov 2013, 7:06 PM #13you need only watch the first half-hour of 'The Time Of Angels' to see how brilliant Steven Moffat can be when he tries: it's dense, involving, perfectly weighted, highly inventive, genuinely funny. It also features a staggering performance from Matt Smith, before all the subtlety was battered out of him
