Companions Poll: The Second Doctor
Fewer companions for the Doctor's most mercurial of manifestations! Anyone would think that he didn't get on with people. But what he lacks in quantity he makes up for with Victoria Waterfield.
I've scanned the interwebs for evidence of spin-off companions, but there's not been a single one who's lasted for more than one story. There's 'Lady Serena' who appeared in one book, World Game and Barnabus the Robot who appeared in the comic strip 'Banrabus'. By that count, Professor Travers is more of an official companion than any of them!
I'll have to stick John and Gillian here to, so I can justify including Frobisher later.
And no, Benandpolly does not count as one companion.Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I've gone for Victoria. Totally useless as a companion, screaming, sometimes annoying, panicking, climbing into intensely dangerous Cyber-equipment because she fancies a nap... yet absolutely adorable. Poor Victoria!
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

No offence to any of the others, but it's got to be Jamie. He's one of the all time best- fiercly loyal to the Doctor but enough of a friend to stand up to him when necessary, brave, and he looks good in a kilt. Brilliantly played by Frazer Hines, who had such a great rapport with all his co-stars, foriming a great double act with Troughton, having a caring bond with Victoria and a sparring partner with Zoe.
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Definitely Jamie and summed up perfectly by Si.
Such a shame though that there's so few Ben and Polly episodes (at the moment!) - the line up of those two plus Jamie has to be the sexiest line up ever!

Zoe. Cheeky and swotty without being irritating. She could be a prototype for Hermoine.
In fact, the whole of Season 6 could be a model for Harry Potter, if I'd read more of the books.
Oooh, coconut macaroons!

Jamie for me all the way! Frazer's loyalty and devotion to Patrick even to this day is really touching.

It was a close call between Zoe & Jamie, but in the end Jamie won out.
B.T.W, I thought Polly's surname was Wright? Or is that post TV appearance?

Nope, nobody ever called her anything apart from 'Polly'.
Anyway, two 'Wrights' in one decade would be most presumptuous!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!
