Travellin' Prayers - Dolly Hits The Road
Dolly's European tour has kicked off, beginning in Denmark and due on these shores in a few weeks time (we'll be there)!
Here's the set list, spoiler covered if you are going and don't want it ruined:
Baby I'm Burnin
Two Doors Down
Jolene
Puppy Love
The Grass Is Blue
Shine
Thank God I'm A Country Girl
Little Sparrow
My Tennessee Mountain Home
These Old Bones
Coat Of Many Colors
Smoky Mountain Memories
Train, Train
Imagine
A brief break for a costume change
Travelin' Prayer
Marry Me/Applejack
God's Coloring Book
Me And Bobby McGee
Crimson And Clover
I Dreamed About Elvis
Islands In The Stream
Here You Come Again
9 To 5
I Will Always Love You
Encore: He's Alive
The great news it is long long long and not piddly as feared from reports of her casino dates. Good to see "Two Doors Down" back as the opener (that should be rollocking!) and she does a couple of classics that she neglected on the "Live and Well" tour ("Here You Come Again" and "Islands"... but still no "Love Is Like A Butterfly"!).
Some odd oldies ressurected - "Puppy Love" (her first single, from the '50's when she was 12) being the most astounding but also "Thank God I'm A Country Girl", "I'm Alive" and "God's Colouring Book".
A personal YAY for "These Old Bones" and "Smoky Mountain Memories", two old favourites of mine!
It'll be nice to see "Imagine" though there are a couple of dull other choices from "Those Were The Days", namely "Me and Bobby McGee" and "Crimson & Clover".
On the downside "I Dreamed About Elvis" is supposed to be wretched, and I hope neither "Applejack" or "Marry Me" arn't too cut down in the medley.
An interesting, if varied set list. You wouldn't want it to be exactly the same as she was doing 5 years ago after all. We don't seem to have lost anything great (except "Mountain Angel" and that's had its day) and the dire "We Irish" and her bloody penny whistle has gone!
No new songs though!
Si.

I can't find any online but hopefully that won't stop her. There was some bare bones stuff in 2002 but this is a bigger tour so there's no excuse for no t-shirts, lanyards and Dolly wigs.
The set list is nice. Wonder why she never does "Love is Like A Butterfly"?

Perhaps it brings to mind evil visions of dried up Royal star Wendy Craig.
Dolly wigs and inflatable tatto's are what we demand.

There's hope for Chisholm yet!
...there isn't, but it's nice to say it.

Chis hasn't entered the charts on downloads yet...that's not a great sign.
