Ulitmate Doctor Who: Season 26
Just as things seem to be settled behind the scenes, with new writers settling in and a comfortable production pattern, the buggers at the BBC went and cancelled the show.
Fortunately it went out on a high, as we learnt of the Doctor's future as Merlin, confronted demons in Ace's past in Perivale, fought the Master and The Doctor's contest with Fenric was played again in WWII Yorkshire.
But which was your favourite?
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

A strong season to go out on & IMO the strongest for some 6 years. Fenric wins this chess match.

Well, we've come to the end of the classic series and the penultimate story, The Curse of Fenric does it for me. It's a superb tale, Doctor Who at it's very best and proof the BBC should not have cancelled the show.

Fenric for me too.

It's a flawed story, but there's something about the atmosphere to it (largely due to Mark Ayres' music I think) that makes me vote Fenric too. But in fact, any of the stories from this season could be a winner, I'm very fond of all of them - and the "Home?" exchange between the Doctor and Ace at the end of Survival is lovely.

They're all great, and I could have voted for each for any number of reasons, but it's the underrated Battlefield which gets my vote today. I love it!

Ghost Light for me. I adore its atmosphere, script and performances. Even the info dump in Part Three is beautiful, as it's an "of course" moment rather than a "we can't fit the explanation anywhere else" moment (i.e. Battlefield).
Oooh, coconut macaroons!

Ghost Light and Fenric stand out for me (the only two McCoy stories I ever bought on DVD!), and are easily the best two stories of the McCoy era. However the brilliant atmosphere of Ghost Light wins out over Fenric for me, even if I do wish it could have been expanded into four episodes and Fenric was simply a slightly better told tale.

Fenric out of an otherwise shoddy season.

A good season, but Fenric stands out as the best story.
