The EXCITING World Cup in Brazil THREAD!!!
OK, I guess we should have a thread about this for all those who want to watch.
So how far will England get? Will they get out of their group? Quarter finals? Semi's? What's your prediction?
Also, as this is being held in Brazil will all the pitches have a strip of grass left up the middle?
Yes, I started this thread just to make that feeble joke.

Well as a Dutchman, I'm hoping Holland will do well. However Spain as an opening game will be very tough and if we lose, it will put added pressure on us when we play Chile & Australia. Not to mention the potentially harder second round match if we go through from the group stages in second place.
As far as England are concerned, it's a really tough group. Italy and Uruguay could both eadily go a long way in the tournament but I have a sneeky suspicion that England will get through at Italy's expense. I see the quarter finals as being about as far as England will go though. Despite some predictions in the media, the England squad doesn't have strength in depth, which is why Welbeck gets in the side on a regular basis.

Take a leaf out of a Scotland supporters book, Tim, and don't expect anything much at all. That way, if they actually DO have a successful tournament then it'll come as a surprise and be all the more enjoyable for it. Much better than expecting the world only to have your hopes dashed again.
I think England have a good manager, but I'm not so sure about how good the team is. Quarter finals are a possibility, though. I'll go for Brazil to win it, though.

Well it's 1-1at half time between Brazil and Croatia. Brazil have had more possession but Croatia have looked very good on the counter.

I quite fancy Croatia to sneek this one.
But then again, I'm a Charlton suppoter, so what would I know about football?I’m being extremely clever up here and there’s no one to stand around looking impressed! What’s the point in having you all?

It was a rather dodgy penalty that changed the game.

Blimey, wasn't it. Until then, Croatia had a real chance.

There wasn't anything wrong with Olic's challenge on the keeper for Croatia's disallowed goal either. That actually highlights one of my many football bugbears. Keepers get far too much protection. Lets face it, they can jump for a high ball with arms extended and catch it, they already have an advantage over the player trying to head it.

I have always felt the same. The keeper can come running out and clatter into a forward yet the keeper gets the free kick

When does it all finish?
I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

Mexico must be feeling quite aggrieved. Two perfectly good goals disallowed, both from Giovanni Dos Santos.

The highly paid pundits I saw the other night on MOTD were all in agreement that Suarez isn't 100% fit. Thank God.
