Can you tell what it is yet?
I had no idea, Tim.... until I started to watch The Tenth Planet this morning (presumably it ought to be relabelled The Ninth Planet now) set in the glitteringly futuristic space world of 1986.

By my reckoning I've only seen this once before, back in 1990, and even that was on a crackly pirate copy - I mean, I like the original 'cloth face' Cybermen, but they don't look as menacing with wooden legs and parrots. So although I know this story gets a bit of a bad rep, and although I can sort of see that it would be a bit dull on multiple viewings, I found part 1 really quite gripping.

Oh, and was actually quite surprised to see the pin-ups in the crew room, as well as the General calling his troops "frustrated" when they all go nuts at the sight of Polly. Hence the "mild sex references" on the back of the box? Or is part 4 animated in some modern style where all the characters are naked?

Speaking as someone who never took to the eleventh Doctor's era as a whole - good luck!
Thanks Mr Wallis! I always liked the eleventh Doctor, but did struggle with some of his stories - my recollection of season 6 is of spending a lot of 2011 saying, "Matt Smith was great, but..."

The Impossible Astronaut, then, looks great and there are some really good bits, but..... I still struggle to think of it as a story that ultimately we get the answers to. Some great set pieces, but does it hang together? The jury's still out.

I've never seen (obviously) or even listened to part 4 of The Tenth Planet before... until last night, when I 'did the animation' on the DVD.

Not bad - I'd quite like to be able to see the real thing, especially Hartnell taking control of things at the base for a short while after Cutler's death. It's an interesting story - part 1 is really rather tense, part 2 is Cyber-tastic.... but then part 3 has no Doctor and only a moment of Cyber action (they walk on only to get killed off), and there's a sort of sense of it running out of steam... but then part 4 picks up again, more Cyber action and then! Odd shenanigans in the TARDIS!!

One thing I'd never thought/realised/been aware of before - is the suggestion that the energy drain from Mondas is what 'does for' the Doctor, he spends part 3 and the latter half of part 4 asleep/worn out?

Day of the Moon this morning, which I've not seen since 2011. I have to admit, I enjoyed it more than I did back then - may well be that knowing how at least some of the arc elements eventually tie up, it wasn't such a mass of confusion. Rather good in fact, and Matt & Arthur Darvill were particularly good.

I have flu, so I'm lying on the sofa under the duvet watching The Three Doctors.

I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.
