    Default Jeremy Lloyd has died

    Very sad news- the actor and writer Jeremy Lloyd has died. He co-created the sitcom Are You Being Served? with David Croft, based on his retail experiences early in his working life and went on to work on other joint creations with Croft including It Ain't Half Hot Mum and the mighty Allo, Allo.

    RIP Jeremy.

    I've just got my handcuffs and my truncheon and that's enough.

    I was very sad to hear this. Those 3 series you mentioned Si are very dear to my heart - they still make me laugh to this day.

    I genuinely didn't realise earlier that he had nothing to do with You Rang M'Lord - that was apparently Jimmy Perry and David Croft, where-as Are You Being Served was David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd. So did Croft have two famous writing partners?

    Anyway, I love the characters and catchphrases in Allo Allo and Are You Being Served. The beauty was that you came to expect them - it was like panto, you could join in and I always cracked a huge smile when a character entered the room as you knew what was coming.
