Don't know what episodes they're showing yet. Half hour slot means they'll be cut, or it might be the LWT series!?
The Goodies at LWT DVD is also meant to be coming soon from Network.Last edited by Milky Tears; 23rd Jan 2007 at 12:30 AM.

Fantastic - with Pixley's facts, they needn't bother even putting the DVDs in the case!
(Although it would be nice if they did.)Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

'Football Crazy' and 'Change of Life' on Paramount 2 last night. Both of them ain't all that. At least Bill's saggy moobs were most awesome and cool in 'Change of Life'.

We rather enjoyed 'Football Crazy' but haven't had time to watch the other one yet. It's a shame, because I only pre-ordered the LWT set this week!
We love the ITV-ified version of the theme. It's just a shade cheesier and more Saturday-night-variety friendly.
Was Milky pleased to see the old fashioned LWT logo?Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

The Goodies... at LWT
Our copy of The Goodies at LWT turned up yesterday - it's an excellent little package!
As you may know, The Goodies ran for about 10-15 years on the BBC, but it's final, final year was on rival channel ITV's London Weekend Television. This DVD contains all the episodes, a stupendously in-depth Andrew Pixley guide leaflet, plus a bunch of extras such as the Goodies on Richard and Judy.
But the extra I made a bee-line for was Tim Brooke Taylor judging a 'heaviest turkey' competition. More of a 1981 slice-of-life than an actual Goodies extra, it features complaining women talking about turkeys being slaughtered for Christmas and a gruff farmer rebuffing their comments.
"What do you think of these people having nut cutlets at Christmas?"
"I think they're absolutely bonkers."
You just don't get people talking like that on TV anymore!
The Richard & Judy stuff is OK, but missing a lot of the comedy clips (French and Saunders etc) which are replaced with a black frame saying 'Clip removed for contractual reasons'. Fair enough really!
We even watched 2 episodes. 'Robot' was absolutely brilliant and a new favourite and 'Bigfoot' was almost as good. This DVD set was well worth picking up!Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

I don't think I've ever seen "The Goodies". Not even a clip.
Does their "Robot" have a doddery old bloke with big hair and a woman in a Nazi costume trying to destroy the world with an Action Man tank?
Si.

No, but it does boast a bearded man in his forties dressed as a Sweedish Blonde bombshell putting a baby robot down a slide. As well as a man in a Union Jack waistcoat being chased by a derranged washing machine.
Pity. I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE!

Watched them all on Paramount Comedy last month and recorded the Richard & Judy stuff at the time. There are only three episodes I'd rate over 7/10, so I'll wait until it's going for 1.99. That's about all it's worth!
Even a massive Pixley booklet guide thingy isn't enough to tempt me.

Having heard that these episodes were a bit of a downturn in quality after the BBC stuff, I was really surprised. I've enjoyed all the ones I've seen, and they seem a bit more inspired than some of the last ones at the Beeb. Robot was great fun.
I do like their new ITV version of the theme with extra light entertainment spangles added too!

OMG!
It's got Goodies Rule OK, the one with the giant Dougal, which is one of my earliest TV memories and I've been dying to see it since. I am confused though because I thought that rights clearance issues over all the TV puppets in it meant it could never be released commercially!

About bloody time! I signed an online petition to get this release so long ago I'd forgotten about it. And it's only taken four releases to get Goodies Rule - OK out. Anyway...

I'm sure the Goodies are the reason why some of us of a certain age are so demented ...
Remember, just because Davros is dead doesn't mean the Dalek menace has been contained ......

Now, if you can just get the Lads to get The Changes (1975 BBC) on DVD next, that's top of my most wanted now!
